“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth” (John 14:16-17).

The Father gives us the Holy Spirit to do in and for us what Jesus did in and through His disciples. The Holy Spirit is our counselor who helps us through our problems. He helps us learn from our pasts but also frees us from living in them. He heals our hearts, removing the shame of our pasts, and gives us joy regarding our present and hope for our future (Ps. 34:19; Is. 61:7). As our Helper, the Holy Spirit is also our mentor who guides us toward our purpose. He progressively reveals to us the unique handiwork God fashioned us to be. He gently leads us along the path leading to our purpose, instructing us through God’s word and enlightening the Word to our hearts and minds (Ps. 25:12-13; Eph. 2:10; Jn. 14:26; 16:12-15).

In addition, the Holy Spirit is also our coach who helps us develop to our full potentials. He empowers us to accomplish the things God has purposed us to do and, as a result, expands our influence (Jn. 12:16; John 15:26-27a; Acts 1:8).

Children of God, let’s learn to keep in step with God’s Spirit. As we’re filled with, yielded to, and empowered by God’s Spirit, He uses us to bring God glory. And, by glorifying God through us, He fulfills us with the greatest of fulfillment.
