Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine. (Proverbs 3:9-10 NIV)
We will not truly honor God until we honor Him with our wealth. This is because we honor God only by our faith in Him (Hebrews 11:6). We don’t really trust God until we trust Him with our finances. Trusting Him in our finances begins with giving Him the “first fruits” of our earnings. Giving to God first demonstrates that we are depending on His faithfulness to provide for our needs. The promise is that when we develop this habit of giving to God first, then we release the fountain flow of God’s blessing on our lives. We receive back far more than what we give. He is pleased by our faith and pleased to reward it abundantly. Let this be a year of abundance for you. Honor God with your “first fruits.”
